Prior to commencing works on the Hotel Tower, Hoskins was engaged to construct a pre-construction prototype featuring two full-scale guest rooms and a connecting corridor. Built within a warehouse in Osborne Park, the mock-up was millimetre-accurate to the tower’s architectural specifications and served as a vital tool for design finalisation ahead of the main construction phase. The prototype demonstrated meticulous attention to detail, incorporating fully functional mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical services. Toilets, showers, basins, lighting, access control systems, and motorised blinds were all operational, reflecting the final in-room experience. International fixtures and fittings were sourced to match exact project specifications, and custom finishes—including short-run fabricated carpets—were installed to replicate the proposed tower interiors. Even lift call buttons were made fully functional, despite the absence of actual lift shafts behind. This prototype ensured a high degree of certainty and alignment between the design intent and construction execution for the main hotel tower.
